Cristian
Team Indien
Dipu
Assistent und Projektleiter Indien
Dipu grew up in a big family in the village of Shri Ramachandrapur. After the normal school education he did a lot of sports, hoping for a job in the police or the state railway. He was even on the professional handball team. But this job was breadless and with no prospects for further opportunities.
At Real Time Trust, Dipu supports the production with Pintu and Pallavi and coordinates the cooperation with the Indian foundation Anwesha. In partnership with them we produce our jewellery and Dhokra parts. Dipu works very closely with them and all the villages the items are made. Dipu takes care of his tasks and the employees with a lot of heart.
Pintu
Assistent und Gründer Raymond Fair Traders
To western eyes it might seems easy to build up a working group of women in a place where employment is so needed. But it is not at all. For the majority of the people living in the near by villages, working women are a shame. Women are supposed to stay inside the house and men are the ones financially taking care of them.
So in the beginning, Pintu had a hard time recruiting the girls: „At the beginning it has been really difficult to have them working close all together, they are from different casts and some of them wouldn't accept the proximity and to do the same job of the lower cast women. But thanks Cristian and his friend Diya teaching me equality, I was determined to develop a beautiful space of creativity and solidarity, so I didn't give up and slowly, slowly those who initially left they came back one after the other.
In 2018 Pintu founded the company Reymond Fair Traders. With the goal of being able to find more customers for cooperation in addition to the projects with Real Time Trust, and thus become more independent for the future.
Pallavi
Since 2018, Pallavi has been an important part of our team. She takes care of the office work of Raymond Fair Traders and together with her husband Pintu, she keeps track of production, materials and orders. Before that she had a very badly paid job as a teacher. Now she watches over the work with a sometimes strict but caring eye and is an important contact person for our whole team.
Sunita
Assistentin von Pintu
Sunita was the first one to join the group. She has three daughter of eight , six and three years old. She is the teacher to everybody else since she is the only one who had a school training and had worked the coir for ten years. Having a place where she can get together with other women and pass on her knowledge seems very important to her. As much as the liveliness that brings the creative process itself. She suggests ideas and solutions when Cristian wants to do something new and she also takes care of selecting and researching the materials.
But the husband doesn't know that she works here. He won't agree. He works in Mumbay, so when he comes back she stays at home. "We have a deal with Pitu" she says and smiles. This is not the only deal that helps the ladies at Trust, I can see a cute boy.
Jamuna
Ball Spezialistin
Jamuna is a beautiful woman of thirty years old. She has three children in their teens and one of them suffers of poliomyelitis that has long been neglected, the husband in fact struggles to earn enough money to provide for the family. He is a Sankirtanist a story teller, something in between a preacher, a sage and an actor, they explain to me. " When in a village there are problems, we need to discuss and we need somebody who knows and tells us old stories, so we call the Sankirtanist. They travel from village to village and they live out of offers". Jamuna's husband is quite happy she has a job and I am sure that the doctor's visits that are arranged from time to time are great contribution to his positive attitude.
Sabita
Leiterin Nähatelier
To sewing lady picture, her name is Sabita Tripati: Two houses further down lives and works a lady who supplies small fabric pouches to the Trust. She is a widow at only 40 yrs old . Her parents passed aways so she is the only one providing for four younger sisters. Her priority is to be able to marry the youngest, which means save enough money to cover her dowry. After some works in the near village of Pipli she couldn't find anything regular. She works with a very old sewing machine, " I still can't believe how she can deliver such a good job with such an old machine, I am trying to provide a better one soon" tells me Cristian. " At first I was sitting down with her checking colours of the fabrics and designs of the small bags, but she has such good taste and she is so precise that now she decides everything alone, I trust her completely". The house walls are made of mud and the mosquitos are having me for lunch, but when I take pictures of her, she poses with confidence showing the instruments and the products of her work.
